I changed mine to amsoil almost a year ago, mine sits a lot. I put maybe 400 miles on it this year.

I had wet spots under the truck at a couple seals having regular oil. Then changed to synthetic and I haven't noticed a difference at all in mine when it comes to a wet spot or drip getting worse. I might have a drip where a drop or two had dripped over the course of a few months but its always done that and no enough to pull and repair.

Just stating how its affected my truck from regular to synthetic- that's all.

i went with lucas 50w synthetic trans fluid in my 435 and 420
all new seals and sleeves
they both weep oil but not enough to drip
the 420 seems to run cooler but that might be the power of suggestion from reading on this forum.
i went with lucas because i didnt have to pay money to join a club in order to not pay stupid money for oil
and it was in stock at my favorite store

Two things here. #1, Something did not come out right if you still have oil getting out of the gear box. It isn't that hard to achieve a leak free component unless there is a crack or something going on allowing oil to escape.
#2, While I am somewhat familiar with Lucas; I have not had the chance to test and see actual results that I have with several others. Here is what I do know, Lucas may be a little better than other off the shelf oils; however it is far from a real high end product. How do you tell; obtain the data sheets for whatever products you need to look into. I'm not referring to flyers in the store next to the product, I'm speaking of real test results done by 3rd party testers, actual run test, etc. You will not have to look far on the graphs or read very far into the fine print to realize that in store synthetic brands like Lucas, Red-Line, etc., are a far cry from the better products. You will also find that if you are not really careful, you can actually be paying more for a lesser quality product than you would be to spend just a little more for the best product; retail gimmicks to get you in this way are endless; plus lesser quality products with weak additive packages will have to be changed significantly more often than a product that is fortified with a strong additive package blended in. Not sure whether what I'm about to say is true at NAPA Stores across the country or not; our local NAPA is actually an AMSOIL Dealer, you may want to check at your local NAPA. If you are concerned about obtaining locally and in small as needed quantities, this could be a good way for you to pursue obtaining Amsoil Products. We don't use NAPA as a source to obtain ours because it is less cost to become a preferred customer and buy at wholesale. Synergen, Hydrotex, (both really high end non-synthetic petroleum oils), Royal Purple, Amsoil, (synthetics), Amsoil is by far the best product, at the best price in the synthetic group. Synergen and Hydrotex are probably THE BEST of the non-synthetic products out there, very high end products that absolutely do what they claim to do. These products are EXTREMELY costly. The last time I talked with a Synergen Rep., he actually told me that there was one Company out there that had products just as strong and in some cases stronger than Synergen. His answer was AMSOIL. Honesty here, this is what prompted me to look into Amsoil Products. This is when I came to the realization that we could actually buy their products at wholesale without the cost of becoming a retail dealer. It is by far the best deal going for some of if not the best oils and greases on the market today. Now this is not just based on what someone said, we have used these products here for 3-4 years now in components and equipment we rebuild in house. Amsoil products have well proven themselves as a winner right here in house for us, AND we are just like everyone else; we very carefully look for the best product at the best price. AMSOIL together with their high end products and purchasing options has brought us to where we are today in that area. I'm just sharing this knowledge with you.

not only do you know what you are talking about.
i spoke to you on the phone
and you are a nice guy.
unfortunately i simply cannot afford to follow all of your advice.
while i am sure amsoil is great
it was more cost effective for me to use what i did.
at this point i am not rebuilding anything else unless it breaks.
retired due to health with only a part time $8 an hour job to pay for this truck means that
since everything works and it doesnt drip all over the place
i just drive it.
and as i get used to this pig
the more i drive it
the more fun it is.

Just stating facts as we have learned along the way; not trying to tell you what to use or not. That is up to you.
