PTO installation

Post by ZGjethro »

I recently bought a complete LU-4 winch setup, but I won't get it for a while. I was hoping for some pointers on mounting the PTO, or the technical manual number for this part.
Thanks

The PTO isn't a bolt and go item. You are going to need to pull the trans So you can easily work on it and set the backlash. The procedure is in the manual. Hopefully, the holes for the lever and latch are on your trans tunnel/floor. If not, you may want to find those parts from a winch truck, too.

Thanks for the info. That is definitely not what I wanted to hear. I was hoping for bolt on and go, with maybe some gasket shimming. Do you have any idea which manual has the pto mounting instructions?

I am pretty sure my truck is set as far as the lever and latch holes. There is an oval plug to the right of the gas pedal and two stamped indents above it.

The body and drivetrain manual has it all. It is just gasket shimming, but has to be measured from inside. With the loads that are possible, having it right is important.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I probably have the instructions for the PTO install in one of my many TMs.
