Range on coil measurement values?
I found an original Autolite coil for my truck. The + and - terminals measure 12 ohms. I have seen somewhere that it should be around 1 ohms. Do I have a bad coil? The center to positive is 14K ohms.

Re: Range on coil measurement values?
On the primary side you should have 6 Ohms, on the secondary side you should have 14.5--15k Ohms.

So, 12 ohms is bad or going bad. I'm currently running a Chinese coil and feel like it is a ticking time bomb. We sure could use some reliable new coils for the hobby.

Re: Range on coil measurement values?
Find a shop with a real coil tester and check it out correctly. The primary & secondary Ohm readings will give you an idea on condition but the more reliable method is with a Coil & Capacitor test set. Also when taking the ohm readings be sure take both readings with the coil both cold and hot. Heat it with a heat gun or hair dryer until it is uncomfortable to tough.
