grand vally state university truck club

Post by kimbilly »

G.v.s.u. has started a truck club to combat the lack of mechanical ability in the u.s.not only do they try to teach basic car maintenance, they also have food drive to help less fortunate in their area. One of their members contacted last week about a truck I had on craiglist.long short of it I ended up donating a very restorable m37 to their school. They are going to be looking for on this site for their restoration. These kids are super excited just like we are when we get a new m.v. I sent them a link to this site to help them find parts they need. If any one else wants to help with their knowledge of these trucks im sure they would appreciate it.if any one wants to check them out they are on Facebook. Grand vally state university truck club.

Great story! I can certainly relate to the need for fostering some mechanical aptitude in kids. I've taught auto for 12 years in an urban high school and it seems that the crop of students shows up each year knowing less and less. This is not to say they are not willing and enthusiastic to learn, they just have had absolutely no exposure. I know my students get a kick out of working on the M we picked up in January and I'm sure the crew at Grand Valley will too. The M has made a great teaching tool so far, no plastic, no fiddly tiny hardware, no exotic materials, reasonable availability of parts, and it's a bit of a history lesson :).

Yes. Michigan.4 of the club members drove three and a half hours one way to get the truck. Now that's dedication. Sounds like something we would do. Lol

Heck, They are close to me. I have displayed my M37 and a few other mv's at their veterans events before. As a matter of fact they had one last year that they used a pic of my M37 in their advertisements. I couldn't make the event, but it was cool seeing my M37 on TV.

Here is a link to the add: http://www.wgvu.org/veteranssalute/

GVSU is the local PBS broadccaster.

I don't do facebook, but they can get a hold of me here for some help.
