shadbolt is the local cam shop here in Vancouver. he has a small selection of different cams for the long block but im not sure whats the best profile for how i use my truck. i will pick the brains of the guys at delta camsahfts

there is alot to know about cam profiles and I have never taken the time to study them in depth. That is why I call the guys that know the math behind it.

Awesome info guys... I had my Can. 251 bored over 40 but the engine was bored over 40 before I got to it. My engine builder bumped the comp to about 7.5-1. He threw in a crank from a semi engine with different rods and pistons... my own estimate is about 277 cu in. So in the beginning I asked him how I could get more power out of this engine and after it was rebuilt his suggestion was to put a small turbo on it... but first I need to find a carb to go with this idea. He told me about a Holley that would be perfect... but I'm not doing that until I find a 24v dis, wires and waterproof set up. I'm going to run the engine stock for awhile first, then we'll see about a turbo idea. My engine builder told me that all of this engines torque is available around 1400 to 1600 rpm... we'll see. I'm going to look for my spec card to make sure I got all this info right.

.080 over 265 sounds like fun! did your builder use Pontiac pistons? i would toss the crater and get a webber (or two) on before water proof wires. lots of jetting options for the webber and they get blown through all the time

So ... you said.... or two ... can you get dual set up for 251 block, because all I've seen is one for the 230. I know there is custom made route.. but I like the idea of the stock look. Thanks for the Weber carb idea, they look more period correct... I will post pictures... but it's very winter here and my shop is a wood shop right now.. making furniture etc.

yes there is a stock dual in/out for the 251/265 but it is very rare. it was only used on 2ton and bigger trucks. they go for $800 - $1500+

Here the project sits and waits for the axles, you can see the transfer case in background with the tranny on the right. the springs are redone +2". The frame sandblasted and Ind. primer at a Mining Equipment rebuild shop. And I have two more pics I just downed off my phone... too cool.

WHEN I find the spec card for the this engine ... I will share the details.. I know one thing this 251 felt at home in this engine shop opened in 1954... and he had parts on the self. He sourced out pistons due to milling etc.. so maybe our right RMS.
