brake anchor bolt

Finally getting around to redoing the brakes on my trusty old plow truck – has only taken two years to get to too… so long in fact that I can’t seem to find all the parts that I bought two years ago. Been hard to justify during the cold depths of winter – want to stop just drop the blade….

Truck is currently under the barn on blocks, with the plow sitting out in the field…..neither of went over well when we ended up getting 18 inches of snow last weekend. A bit early Mother Nature... And to further add insult to injury the snowblower was trapped behind the Dodge……ugh…..and the shovels were found up in the barn rafters….

So in any event.
As I teardown and replace I am curious how much resistance the brake pad anchor bolt should impart on the pads themselves. With the brake return spring off and no wheel cylinder should the pads rotate on the anchors easily or should there be a resistance there. Curious I guess if I should buff and lube the anchor bolt, or just leave it all alone.

buff and lube the pin then soak the felt in oil before installing not so much that it drips but saturated

Felt? oh Oh. I better go look at my parts diagram.
I just recall seeing old rusty metal.
