Anyone hauling an M on I-95 on 9/7/14?

Post by Tuko »

Saw a M37 on a trailer with the cargo canvas, etc on 95 in New York by the ct line yesterday. Wondering if it was anyone from here? It actually looked a lot like Carter's with the yellow rotating light on the pole.

Mine sits safely in my shop so their must be some other owner on the road. Only once was I able to chase down an owner hauling one near Grantsville in western Maryland and have a chat but it would be nice if that kind of thing could happen more often...Hey buddy do you own that :?: where are you going with that :?: ...I have one just like that, :D want to see my pics? :D

It was a new owner that lives out in mass, I caught up with them over on the Facebook m37 page when they had posted they brought it home yesterday and it resides in mass. I asked and sure enough it was them I had seen.

Yep, that was me! I picked up my 1951 M-37 in Babylon, NY on Sunday, and towed it back to Cape Cod. It was a very long day. 5hrs down, 2hrs test driving and looking it over, 7hrs back...592 miles roundtrip, but well worth it! Excited to get started here on the forum, and learn from all of you. -Ben

I am not 100% sure if it was the previous owner, or the one before him. I lot of the work was done two owners ago.

Welcome to the site Ben,

That is a good looking truck, I think that we will need to see a few more pictures of it. Please fill us in on the details on it.

I will definitely will get some more pics this weekend. I just snapped the one after my 14hr roundtrip to Long Island. Just a little background on it... as far as I know, three owners prior to me, and they all had a part in the restoration. The guy I bought it from was a Vietnam vet, who lives in Babylon, NY (Long Island). He was selling it to make room for a race car project. The owner before him did the majority of the restoration and lived in Upstate NY somewhere. I have no info on the first owner. The guy I bought it from told me it served on an Air Force base in Germany, I think until the late 60's. I am not mechanically inclined (feel free to laugh now), but I consider myself handy, so I am hoping I can learn some things about maintenence, etc. for my M. The prior owner just told me to read all the manuals, and that it's really simple. We'll see! Appreciate everyone on here being so welcoming...looking forward to a long relationship with this new toy. -Ben

If it served in an AFB in Germany Lifer may have used it, can't confirm that though, Chuck has gone to the great Mess hall in the sky, sure would be interesting to know though.....
