idle RPM
Finished rebuilding my distrubutor, and got my truck all running nice and pretty. But I have one question, I've looked all throught the manuals and can't find a recommended idle RPM. When I hook up the Tach I'm getting around 875rpm. What should it be? Thanks!
Idle speed not in manual
I to notice the lack of and Idle speed spec in the manuals. They sort of have you set it by ear e.g. smoothest running and maximizing the vaccuum.
That sort of leads on my truck to around 550-600. However at 550 she seems to take more cranks to start.
What are other peoples experience???

650 RPM is what the specs call for, anywhere in that area is ok give or take a few. I would recommend against going too low, on a worn engine the oil pressure can drop dangerously low when idling too low, the generator doesn't charge any if too low either.
