How to remove bed

Post by Galen »

What is the best and easiest way to remove the bed from an M 37. I want to remove it as one unit minus the tailgate and store it.
Thanks

Remove the 6 mount bolts (the left front can be a PITA), disconnect the fuel filler neck rubber tubing, 2 each (you can leave the filler neck in place, if you slide the rubber tubing toward the gas tank, out of the way). Remove the troop seats/racks to lighten the load. Get three strong backs on each corner (plus your's) with utility gloves on, then lift it off. 4 guys can handle it.

I used my engine hoist with ratchet straps in an criss cross pattern, hooked to the canvas tie down hooks, put the hook for the engine hoist on where the straps cross, it's actually nicely balanced there.

I got 4 people, each one grabbed a corner and we lifted it right off! Fairly easy to maneuver with people, not too heavy.
