"Oh my, what is this?!"

The house next to ours is for sale. Saturday afternoon a family of 8 pulled up in a mini-van, met the realtor, and took the tour. We we doing yard work when they were exiting the home, and I stopped working and offered that "this neighborhood is a great place to live". The guy walked over with a military step, introduced himself and mentioned he was the Jag officer for one of the reserve units in the area. While I was responding with my"...I'm an old Army Veteran myself..." chatter, he spied, in the open garage, the back end of my M37 (the "good" half) on duty in the left-side space, flying the US, and the POW/MIA flags on the back. Stopping me in mid-sentence he exclaimed "Oh my, what is this?!" I explained what it was, when they were made, and when I got it, then walked him inside the garage to view the completed interior, and fully missing front clip area, engine exposed and all. He seemed well impressed, and we thanked each other for our military service.

They do turn some heads, don't they?

Yes, they sure do turn heads. There hasn't been one person who's visited my house who hasn't commented on my two M's in the driveway. Seems most people really don't know anything about military vehicles, of which I was one just a few years ago.

I had my truck towed to the shop yesterday, I followed, even under tow, people were pointing and smiling. At a stop light I spoke up to a father daughter combo, they wee trying to figure out what it was, I told them, they asked how I knew, then I explained it was my baby, the OD Goddess.

I am biting the bullet and paying someone to finish my wiring project, after my work injury,(broken wrist) I was in a BIG stall as I had started, but could not recall what I needed to finish. Did that make sense?

I've lived in the same house for 25 years. Next door neighbors have come and gone. Most have been great
and appreciated me banging, welding, grinding and spray painting a variety of MV's over the years.
Recently, next door neighbor Big Dan sold his house and moved in with his latest squeeze. He has to
be the twin brother of Bert ( T Highway). Big as a mountain and strong as an ox. A mechanic in years gone
by, a commercial tire dealer, and a gear head. We would frequently taste test the latest amber beers and
maybe light up a stogie. Sharing stories about old cars and hot rods was priceless.
The NEW neighbor hands out business cards that bills him as a "Hawaiian Singer." WOW.... I couldn't be more
excited. NOT. Probably doesn't know which end of the screwdriver to hold..... so we'll reserve final
judgement for a while.

Good neighbors ARE hard to find.

Sure does! I have same issue on EVERY project I do. While you're "in the zone" its all so simple. A month later you look at what you did and wonder if you were crazy or a genius?

Sure does! I have same issue on EVERY project I do. While you're "in the zone" its all so simple. A month later you look at what you did and wonder if you were crazy or a genius?

I was a software Eng. for many years. One time, after I'd been "in the zone" for a few weeks or so, I was commuting to work along Highway 280 (8 lane highway in Calif.) I'm thinking about code, I AM the code. Then suddenly I kinda' "came to". What the heck? I'm driving down a two lane road through a forest? Took me a few seconds to realize that I'd exited the freeway and was heading to my childhood home on autopilot.

Code writing was all about being "in the zone". Code debugging or, working on M37s.. Its all about getting into someone else's zone. The people that designed whatever it is you're working on. I think some of the people that designed on the M37 were dropping acid..

Bruce, a while back I too bit the bullet and had to get some help on "Lori's M".
Wiring needed finished and motor was running very rough?
I was stalled myself but looking back I should have done it sooner!
We've had several great outing since!!
