Hi 52,

Good info on that link. I was looking at my RT-68 last night, and the I looked at the PP-112 on the web and now I'm confused. These old tube sets all appear to be sealed......but tubes make heat. I don't see any cooling fans or ways for convection cooling.....so how did these components not cook in use?

Those things you've circled are the latches that keep the rear case attached to the front panel. They are Dzuz fasteners.

If you twist them 90 degrees your radio chassis should slide out with your face-plate. Be careful, it's are heavy!

In regards to the mounts for these radios......I only see mention of the MT-297 and 299 for use with the GCR 7/8/9....but those are pretty expensive mounts when you can find one. I've found an MT-298 for a reasonable amount of money, but don't know if it's functionally different than the other two. It's obviously wider, so it can accommodate more gear, but can it be used with the 7/8/9 components as well?

The MT-298 mount holds 2 R/T's, 2 Power Supplies and 2 Receivers. They were primary designed as Re-transmission Units. They are big. I have one I'm going to use for spare parts when I overhaul my other mounts.

All these radio parts are expensive now, I got most of my stuff back in the early 1980's from Fair Radio. It will probably cost me more to get all this stuff working than it did to buy it originally. That just seems to be how life works.

I'll take pictures of my sets tomorrow and post the pics then. Then you can ask questions and I'll do my best to answer them. I'll try to find the PS Magazine articles about these radios also and post them (or at least the links).

Here's the pictures I promised of the radio sets and systems sitting in my garage. I'll try to make some notes along the way but I'll not sure if they'll be attached to the correct pictures. Also, some pictures ended up rotated 90 degrees. I'm not sure why, as they are correct in my photos but something happened when Photobucket downloaded them.

Anyway, to start are some workbench photos of complete systems.

Here are some closer pics of the various individual components (R-110/109/108, RT 68/67/66, and the PP112's and RT 70 on the end of the rack). The racks all these components are mounted on are the MT-297 mounts. They have 9 grooves and a retransmission module in the bottom center.

I've got more pictures of racks (mounts like the MT-327, MT-299, MT-298) and also pictures of the Remote and Local control units together with the Control Boxes (C-375) but I don't know how many more pictures the site will allow me to upload.

I'll put more on tomorrow, if I don't break the site. Also, I need to figure out how to upload drawing (for attaching the junction boxes and mountings to the seats and side walls). If anyone is interested, I can take pictures of the seat reinforcement pieces too.

The GRR-5 is one of my favorite receivers. It will run on 6,12 or 24V. We would go camping and run the GRR-5 off a 6V lantern battery for like 30 mins at a time. They are great little shortwave receivers. I remember that the Rt70/Am65 the dog bone to connect the two together use to be as rare as hens teeth. But in the last 10 years I've seen more and more sets with the dog bone. I wonder if someone found a stash of them. Great Pics!

Great pictures Storm, thanks for sharing them.

The only items that I could ID in the pictures were the MAG flashlight and the GM under hood retractable trouble light.

Holly crap......that's a lot of stuff. Hard to believe they needed all that just to communicate on the battlefield.
Impressive collection 52....very nice.
Now that I see this stuff in real life I can better understand how it all goes together.
