Post by macibell111 »

I am ready to take off the bed to finish the wiring, and the remove the fuel tank to replace all the fuel lines ..is there any thing hard about this undertaking other than the 6 bolts and the filler hose.

I wish it were only 6 bolts. the two rear shackle hangers will have to be removed to get to the the two rear most box bolts. well a modified box wrench will fit but it will be 1/4 turn then flip procedure

This is spot on. When I removed my bed, I ground all the bolts off. the box spacers had been replaced with firehose. I picked up a complete set of new repros from John at Midwest Military, worked perfectly.

He sold me the 4 rear bolts, had to locate a cap screw for the front; was not difficult. The bed can be lifted off with 4 guys very easily.

Like RMS says, the rear two bolts will be a hard time to put back on. I did it though, with a lot of swearing, and a couple of scraped knuckles. For me it just wasn't feasible to remove the bumperettes.

ALSO. Keep in mind that the rear cargo box bolts I got from midwest military were not correct. I needed to cut them, and add more threads, then they worked perfectly.

Hope this helps!
