Hi Guys,
Does the chain (with the big hook) that attaches to the winch cable have a common name? I was trying to describe it to a friend and couldn't think of a name for it. Is it called a "lead chain" or a "recovery chain".....or ????
thanks,
bob

I would think a "lead" or "choker" would be an apt description.

Bob,
It's called "the chain attached to the winch cable that's used to pull civilian Jeeps out of the mud."

I remember it being referred to as the 'fairlead' in a mil. recovery manual.

The most common name is "leader chain".
