Brake cylinder part number
Does anyone know the part number that I can use for a passenger side rear brake Cylinder at my local parts store?

There's a right and left side wheel cylinder, but the Dorman number should get you into the neighborhood.

For the whole system I think left and right counts, for the rebuild kits, as long as the diameters are right, it should work. YMMV, and I'm a corpsman, not a mechanic by trade.

I have NAPA 3596 listed as a Wheel Cylinder (Right).

Just fyi, according to my online NAPA search the cost for the wheel cylinder is $73.69 plus tax. They really think highly of that part. The cost for the rebuild kit (NAPA 6) is $13.39 plus tax.

That price is easily beat at MWM and some other suppliers as well as eBay for almost half that price.

Thought I would add some new information to this old post.
I had my NAPA store look up 3595 and 3596. They were expensive and they could not locate a 3596 at any of the warehouses.
They then looked up 9375 and 9376 (same as Raybestos number) and found them available for $39. The 9375/9376 are listed by NAPA as straight 1 3/8 inch cylinders, but that is a typo. I ordered a 9376 and after inspection side by side with a Raybestos cylinder it appears to be identical including the 1 3/8 to 1 1/4 stepped bore.

yup that is all correct the 9375 and 9376 numbers are best to go into the store with as they cross easily. ONe recommendation is if you still have cast iron pistons in your old cylinders clean and re use them and ditch the aluminum ones they come with. the aluminum causes premature failure of the clyinder. especially on trucks that sit too much. Roberts still has NOS cast iron pistons I believe. quite a few factory wheel cylinders came with cast iron pistons well into the 90s on some cars. maybe even still but most everythingis rear disk now. Good to know about the pistons. My old pistons look pretty bad, but they would possibly clean up.
I would also like to clarify that they didn't cross reference the numbers. The NAPA number on the cylinder I purchased is 9376. It showed up in their system with that number and the box has 9376 on the side of it. The 3596 showed up in the system separately; it looks identical, but the price is higher.

I knew that about the napa numbers but meant if you went into another store. the 9375/6 is used by multiple cylinder manufacturers. Actually i have never seen the with any other number. is the 3595 the same bore size all the way through? I am curious to know if your M pistons are cast iron.

According to NAPA 3596 has the stepped bore as well. The store could not find one anywhere and they cost $60+. Maybe NAPA is transitioning over to the more common 9375/76 numbers. My 9376 has the same casting marks and similar packaging to the Raybestos cylinder. The rubber cups on the ends are identical to the Raybestos as well with the same numbers etc.
My pistons out of my old cylinders are aluminum. The cylinders are very old with R and L cast into the top of them for right and left, but I don't know if they are original to the truck or not. It is a '52 model.
