My truck has the following markings:
Frame Serial No.: 80049200
Cab Serial No.: 19102-38606
Engine block No.: PI5*I0040I9* - rebuild job # 59107
(bottom of block close to oil filler tube 12.21.48)
(Head markings: A 22.52 1485849-12)
The head is 23 1/4 inches long. It was suggested to me that it was a 218. I'm not sure why. Shouldn't it be a 230?
218 or 230 cid?

Engine....
Check the upper left corner of the engine block when standing on the driver's side of the truck. You should see a marking there. T-245 is the original M37 engine number, lesser numbers I think would indicate possible WWII vintage engines(although do not quote me on that one). I think the Canadian engine is a T-251, but again I can't be sure of that one. Someone else can chime in if I am wrong in that regard.
The spot you point out has the numbers "PI5*I0040I9*" on it. At some point a rebuilt, non military engine was put in the truck.
I'm going with the plan that it is a 230, not a 218, though I think the parts may be the same.
AutoZone had a carb kit for the Carter carb and I'll pick it up on Saturday. Hopefully it will fit as well as the fuel pump I ordered.

Carter fuel pump.
I have the carter M847 fuel pump which works however it doesn't have the vaccum line to help with the wipers as the original military one does. If you still have the stock vaccuum wipers this pump won't work with them. In my case I plan to switch over to electric wipers so I didn't give it a second thought.
I may go with electric wipers, I haven't gotten to that point yet. The fuel pump has a glass bowl on it and so does the new one, which is surprising.
Since this is not going to be a "numbers correct" truck with exacting accuracy, I'm probably going to go with some upgrades as I move through the system. It'll be fun and mine and I'll enjoy it.
