breaker points adjusment/replacement
Im new to m37 ownership, can you experienced lads out there confirm that the distributor has to come out before any work can be carried out to the points etc. Is this procedure as easy as it reads in the TM 9-8030 manual, many thanks for any responses.

That is the best way to do it. It will take just a few minutes to pull. Then you can work on it on the bench and not have to worry about trying to work at an odd angle with little room and dropping screws ect. It will also give a good opportunity for inspection and relube of the felt wicks.

Re: breaker points adjustment/replacement
It is allot easier to work with it on a bench top or in a vice, as long as you are still running a Mil Spec oil pump it will only drop back in at one location as removed.

Thanks David and Bert, I will crack on with renewed confidence! Bill
Re: breaker points adjusment/replacement
GOOD MORNING, I agree, take the dist out; the toughest part in the removal and replacement is getting the hold down bolt out and in. I just contacted a company called Petronix: I am going to convert the dist to electronix. I"ll let you know what they have to say as soon as I give them my distributor number,
