VT.....that's pretty cool. I've never seen one in person, so I assume you take the cap off, load it with grease, and the cap can somehow be turned to push the grease down into the bushing? And then I assume when you turn it and it bottoms out you unscrew it and reload......right? How often do you give it a turn?
I talked to a buddy of mine who has halftracks. He says the grease cups were used thru WW2, and then changed to zerks post war. He didn't know exactly when they changed.....so not much new info here.
Does your truck have grease cups on any other lubrication areas?

Yea it unscrews and I clean it out really well and pack the cap with grease and then screw it in until you feel some resistance. As far as how often, once in the spring and if I think of it again in July. Ive always done it while the engine is running so I dont know if that makes a difference or not. There is another local M-37 that is under restoration that still has one. I have a couple more old pumps that I bought at shows that still have the cups so I figure with those and a complete NOS rebuild kit and parts of another one, I will keep this old one going for a while.

VT...thansk for the info. Just one more dumb question......where does the grease go? What I mean is as you keep squirting it into the bushing/bearing it has to accumulate someplace. The grease liquifies as the bearing gets hot, but then when it cools it gels back up. If you keep pushing more into the bearing it has to go somewhere, as it doesn't really get consumed...just pushed out of the way. Does it accumualate inside the pump housing?

My B1 has the cup type. I prefer that to a Zerks as too many folks don't know when to stop pumping.
