I contacted Walbro directly as they are located here in MI. They no longer make the 24v pumps in the 4-4.5psi range, nor are there any in inventory to be had. The Facet is another option but they are rated above the 4-4.5psi which would require a regulator. Saturn Surplus has them from time to time for around $49 - the production version from Facet is $189. Facet also makes an aircraft version but yor are north of $100 before you know it.

I spoke to a mate today, he has a couple of Weapons carriers and a power wagon.
His needs were the same as mine(priming if necessary and help with vapour lock) , he bought a simple double action pump for $40, 4 or 6 psi he cant recall and has had so far 4 years of happy service.

I'll be on the lookout for that set up.

Bruce - hope all is well down under! Charles had provided me some key info to convert to an elect pump system. First was a safety shutoff that uses a oil psi switch, use a tee off the existing oil sending unit near the oil filler neck. Install a Balkamp 4psi oil psi switch (NAPA #701-1575) into your elect circuit that then plugs into the fuel pump. This way the pump will sense a cranking engine b/4 pumping fuel - moreover if you have an emergency - the pump auto shuts off. To provide an elect primer, use a heavy duty momentary push button switch that bypasses the oil psi switch. This way if the engine needs a shot of juice, this switch is wired parallel to the oil safety switch. I found mine at the local marine store. I also added a key switch into this circuit to avoid drive offs which I also tied into the ignition to dist circuit (no key, no spark, no fuel). We used a small L-bracket made from stock aluminum channel to mount the key and p/b to the lower left of the steering column on the same surface that the heater controls mount. Then I looked for a pump for a few weeks b/4 everyone convinced me to have my manual pump rebuilt!!! We took everything out of the truck and put it in a box for now - going to stay original - but it was a great learning for my son! Hope this helps!

That is great infomation and thanks for that.
I will also be retaining my original pump as there is nothing wrong with it, I will have to power my pump from my 24 to 12volt converter as buying 12volt gives me a better choice of products, and i shall use a toggle switch.
There may be times (months) that i never even use the electric pump, but just having it in reserve will sure give me peace of mind.

Bummer that Walbro let you down - I love my pump. You may want to try a marine dealer - sometimes they have some in stock. Most boats are 24V.

Along the lines that knattrass mentioned, I have my pump driven through (1) a 5psi oil pressure switch and (2) a diode leading from the starter switch (the N/O side) to the pump. That way, when I press the starter, the pump fires up. No pesky switches to be accidentally left on.
