Hi Guys,
For those who use the original fuel filter (mounted in front of the generator), where do you get filter elements from? It seems to be a stacked group of plates with holes in the middle that are all slightly staggered to filter the fuel. I traced the part number to an Onan part number 149-1499, but I can't find any more info than that. I don't see any cross reference for that element to say a Wix or Napa number.....so I guess only Onan made them? They look to be cleanable in nature, but I'm not sure. If anyone has a source for these elements can you let me know?
thanks,
bob

Never found a commercial source for the filter's internals but they can be cleaned with a good solvent after disassembly however if your filter has missing or damaged parts you might need to buy another. I believe I have cleaning instructions in one of my manuals but basicly soak it, use a tooth brush to scrub it gently to not bend the disks and blow it dry with 10-15 psi air.

If you mean the stacked captive brass discs, toss them in carb cleaner for a day or two.
That will clean it up, then into a beaker of Tarnex to brighten things. All without having to risk physically damaging the spacing.

Hi Guys,
I finally did find a source for these filters online.....but at $35 a pop they're not cheap. I ordered a half dozen, which should last me my entire military vehicle life, especially since they're cleanable. Thanks for the info.
