My first M37, its not pretty but it pushes snow

Post by ShoeStringFiftyThree »

General M37 says "talk about your M37 here"...

so here it is;
$900 Craigslist special;
Image
$200, 50 mile trip home
Image
and the snow was there waiting for it :)
Image
all 4 fenders have rot holes,
and the tailgate is in 2 pieces, but 'mostly' it's still there

Plans for now are to push snow & get the brakes working.

Someone already swapped in a duel master cylinder,
but I'm not sure which mc it is.
(its also already been converted to 12v, elec wiper & heat added)

Just wanted to post up and say hi :D

Thanks Rich!
I think the price was based on scrap value more than anything else :(

It runs great, in the spring I'm planning to pull the bed off, and wirebrushing the rust off the frame to see how good/bad it really is.

If its not too far gone, I'll see how far I can get it on a shoe string budget.

Hello Jim,

Welcome to the site. Looks like you are already making her earn her keep. Keep the pictures coming and don't hesitate to ask questions, there is a great knowledge base on this site to help with anything that comes along.

Thanks guys!

I'll have some questions soon enough,
still reading & learning going through all the old posts here,
Lots and lots of good information here! :D

Tuko,
It was on NH Craigslist,
but actually located just over the border in Maine.
The guy owned it as a driveway/lot plow for a few years,
it had belonged to his buddy, and was a USAF plow truck before that.

It's a combination of really good upgrades,
and horrible wiring rats nests :)

Oh well,
it starts right up, pushes snow & has tons of personality.
Perfect for what I need!

The first M-37 I ever drove was a plow truck in Maine, on the coast, Machais, ME/Bucks Harbor AFS.

Well I am happy with it, so I'm glad no one got to it first ;)

I do have a question though,
NH requires VIN verification since there is no title.

I found the ID number on the glove box data plate,
is it also frame stamped somewhere?
I saw a pic in another thread, but it didn't say where the frame stamp actually was.

Thank you :)

Your fiddy-three should have a matching # on the driver's side frame, just ahead of the steering box.

In front of the steering box, perfect,
I'll hit it with a wire wheel.

Thank you for the quick reply!!

No problem, a broad razor scraper might expose even faster, that's what I used to remove huge sheets of under coating many moons ago. i did look for a pic, I think I have one on my face book page, I'll try add a link?
