No more leaks!

Post by MarkPick »

Finally! I took the beast for a 12 mile run today, ran like a champ. It seems that she likes to run at 37 mph. She runs real smooth and easy at 37. I had one small leak on the oil pan but a quick 1/4 turn of the bolt fixed that. It is finally operational.

Thanks to all on in this group for the help and support.
A special thanks to Larry, John (MWM) and Charles (MSeries) for all the technical support and for pointing me in the right direction.

I have a quick question concerning the bed. It appears that it sits about an inch and a half lower on the passenger side, the whole right side sits lower. I have checked the mounts and there appears to be no damage. I even checked the leaf springs for damage and found none. Shocks the same. Anyone have any suggestions where to look before I yank the bed off?

Thanks in advance.

did/does your truck have a spare tire carrier ? if yes there should be spacers under the front and rear springs on the drivers side to make the truck sit level with the tire mounted to the door. the effect was exaggerated on my truck, due to passenger side cab mounts tearing away from the frame.

It was set up for the spare tire to mount to the door. The holes for mounting the carrier and the release handle behind the drivers seat is still in place. I will look for the spacers on the left side tomorrow. IT is a small thing but very noticeable. Just one of those things that drive you crazy.

Thanks for the tip!

Yep it had the spacers, well at least had for the front. Back one was not so accommodating. Long story short, will be waiting on a set of u bolts from John at MWM. I guess roughly 50 years is a little rough on blots to sit in one place. Snapped one u blot off, the other nuts came right off but the u bolt will not budge. Hammered, pried, hammered some more, shot it with pb blaster, hammered some more, no luck, will have to cut it off.

But thanks again for the tip on the spacers.

happy i could help. a little story: had a local shop inspect my front end after a wheel collision. the bastards took out and lost the front spacer :x when questioned they said, "we had to remove it because there isn't one on the other side" i said, "did you look at the rear end? it has a spacer on one side as well dick" I grabbed my keys and after adjusting the drag link i crabbed the truck home where i undid all their shatty work.

Wow RMS,
Sounds like they did a number on your truck. Don't blame ya for being pissed. So far to date I have been the only one working on my truck. just dont trust anyone else to do it the way I want.

they sure did mark. the most distressing thing about the whole incident was, i gave the shop copies of the Canadian army EME manuals, INSTR 4, 11, 12 AND 13 witch cover every thing they would have needed to do the job right.

They were just to lazy to take the time to read and learn something. Sad, they lost your business and lost the chance to earn more from other people. Cant keep the doors open for too long working like that.

If you are not using the Drivers Side Spare Tire Carrier, I would be interested in purchasing the mounting parts behind the door (on the inside behind the seat). A few of my parts are missing and I'd like to get my spare tire carrier working. Please PM me if you are interested.

BTW, if any one needs spring spacers or U-Bolts for these spare tire carriers, Charles at M-series rebuild can provide them.
