I have been out fiddling with the truck, and I noticed that I cannot get my straps tight enough to actually support the top. My top is a Beechwood vinyl top, and it is pretty tight across the top. Are these straps more relevant with canvas tops?

Hi ZG,

Yeah, the metal bows I'm talking about are ONLY for canvas tops. My truck didn't come with a top, but it should have a soft top, and from what I've seen at the shows and such none of the trucks with the canvas straps really had the straps so tight that they really supported the canvas top. I'm guessing the function of the two canvas straps is to add some support to the top when it gets wet. But being canvas straps I don't think you can ever pull them tight enough to not let the top sag somewhat. That's what I like about the metal straps I'm talking about. They're curved so they bow upward, so as you can see in the pic they always support the canvas top and don't let it sag down, per se.

regards,
bob
