Strap Buckle Help Needed

Post by w30bob »

Hi Guys,

I need some help with figuring out the correct strap buckle type that would have been used on the jerry can strap and the first aid kit strap for my '52 M. I guess on the canvas top roof straps also. I've found some pics of various buckles claimed to be everything from WW2 to Viet Nam and don't know which are which. I think the first pic and the third pic are the same type of buckle, just different colors. I also have found that there's a type of buckle called an "alligator" type that was used in Viet Nam. I didn't include a pic of that one, as I didn't find evidence that it was used in the early 50s....but correct me if I'm wrong. And if none of the buckles pictured is what I should be looking for let me know that too.

thanks,
bob

I don't have it in front of me, the the Jerry Can strap is quite long, I'll measure it in the morning for you. The second looks like the Pioneer Rack Strap? The first one will work on the First Aid Kit, you'll need to sew a loop in one of the ends.
