Battery box questions

I have a few questions on the battery box that I hope some of you can help me with here.

1.) How is the battery tray attached to the box itself

2.) I am running a 100 amp system. The tray looks too small to hold 2 batteries. I read somewhere that the 100 amp system did not have a battery box. Should I do away with the tray or fabricate a bigger one?

3.) What modern type batteries will fit that tray if any?

Phil, my box and tray were bolted together thru the floor.
