Re: Distributor oil
Tuko,
It looks like someone removed the slotted plug (see my picture) and added an elbow. Did you remove the elbow and look for a wick behind it? If the wick is there you should be fine filling the elbow but if it isn't, my guess is that the oil would drain thru in short order. If you do remove the elbow and find the wick, make sure to soak it in oil before putting it back in.

Re: Distributor oil
thanks T Highway for the pic! indeed the slotted screw is missing, replaced with an elbow and NPT plug. Appears to have grease in the elbow. Will take off the elbow and check for presence of a wick.
Re: Distributor oil
of course as i go to unscrew the elbow it hits the oil dipstick tube. either the tube or the distributer gotta come out to check. sounds like a winter project to me

Re: Distributor oil
TUKO,
Loosen the dist and rotate it to remove the elbow. You don't have to remove parts.

Re: Distributor oil
If your worried about getting the dist back into the exact same spot then I would recommend that you just unscrew the dipstick tube. It is threaded into the block.

Re: Distributor oil
Just reset the timing to 4* BEFORE top dead center.

Re: Distributor oil
will a timing light work with our plug wires?
Re: Distributor oil
There is an adapter needed to allow the timing light to get the impulse.
