Did you guys see this?
1962 Engine looks fairly complete - carb/starter/fuel pump/etc.
Item #230228073952. Of course you don't know the miles.
Currently going for $550, what is the value of something like this?

Depends entirely upon the condition and how badly the new owner-to-be wants it. I paid $100 for a used engine knowing that it burned a lot of oil and that a complete rebuild was in order. The rebuild will cost me roughly $1800 by the time it's finisned, but I'll know that I have a "new" engine when it goes back in the truck.

An existing engine in any given condition would be worth no more than what it would take to take a decent block and do a rebuild. Tom

I'll just toss in that I've got two running, takeout engines sitting in my backyard...
I can deliver them to either the Southern Power Wagon gathering in April in NC, or to the Aberdeen MV Rally in May in MD.
I'd want slightly less than what this one went for (for either engine)... mainly since they have all the accessories (starter, distributor, generator, etc) on them. One has very fresh plugs, wires, distributor etc...
If they don't sell in a reasonble amount of time, I'll start parting them...
One is from a truck that was a rust heap (engine and driveline were good, rest was scrapped), the other from a truck that is getting a diesel transplant...
