six years ago i was given a phone number of a local dodge guy. I called him many times trying to buy parts to complete a 51 B1 PW. Every time i called the guy would say; "Nothing for sale Im keeping it all !" then last week a tow truck drive friend told me about a barn full of trucks that are slated for scrap. he gave me the address and said i should go have a look. So i jumped in the m37 and headed to the barn.
when I arrived I almost cried for when i pulled into the driveway i saw a late 50s power giant with winch being tossed into a 40yard bin by an excavator. after talking to the contractor running the site i found out that they had already scraped over 40 trucks and this is what i was able to save for $600.
i got the guy to give me this as well
I just wish i had gotten there sooner.

Some people want to keep all the marbles for themselves.Whatever his fate, obviously he "couldn't take them with him".God Bless the tow truck driver. At least you were able to get something!Enjoy it,Chris.
Great job salvaging somethng, at least! I, too, tried to deal with an old guy years ago who was at least 85 and "have plans for the vehicle...." which was a non-running m201 w/w with 4 flat tires and hay growing up all around it....

Glad you saved what you could. It would have been heart breaking had they not given you anything.
We have a guy up the road with about 30 vintage farm tractors on his property rusting away. Some are big iron wheels that go back to the 1920's. JD's, Allis's, Cockshutts, Olivers. ect. He wont sell a thing. Won't talk to anyone. The city has been trying to take his property, I fear one day those great tractors will end up in the scrapper. Makes you wonder what other treasures could be hiding on the old farm?

Boy those old Datsuns: I once rode with a gal who had a B210 with dead brakes-she used the E-Brake as the service brake, resting her arm on the console and leveraging up the handle every time she needed to slow/stop. I'll never forget that....

You'd cry if I showed you the Dime I had... ONLY rust anywhere in car was a ~2" diameter hole in driver's side floorboard. No rocker rust, no rear quarter panel rust, no front fender rust, etc...
Wish I hadn't sold it and the VG33 engine I built, the 5-speed, etc., but other things demanded the time & money back in 2000... it is missed, but I had more priorities at the time & I can always get another car.
many bits that cant be seen. 4 corner bows, two good drums, dog house, complete front clip.it was well worth the 83mile round trip. but no, no tailgate. i was thinking of buying a vice mount 18inch bead roller and making one. i made a small scale tail gate on my 2inch bead roller that turned out ok. i might have to turn some custom step dies to make it look somewhat correct. but that is a project for the new year. for now its all about making the best box i can.

got my goodies put away for the winter and my trailer(m43 frame cut)one step closer to being finished
had a hard time getting the box off the truck. i went to pick it up with the forklift but before the weight came off the springs i ran out of travel on the two stage mast. how the tarp worked out made up for the struggle
