Data plate screws

Post by Chris P »

Does anyone happen to know what size screws are used for the data plates? I just bought a set and I seem to have discarded the rusty originals.
Thanks

Chris,

Here is what is in ORD 9, 1954 dated (pg 429):

For the screws - No. 6 tapping, pan head, gimlet pointed, sheet metal thread, steel, & phosphate coated or bright chromium plated. The lengths are 1/2" & phosphate coated for the shifting diagram plate & winch caution plate and 3/8" & bright chromium plated for the publications data plate, servicing data plate, & throttle fording plate. I can only find zinc plated screws anymore and they look just as good as any chromium plated ones. For the phosphate coated I put a coating of dry graphite spray for that "parkerized" look.

Everything on the glovebox is riveted with rivet, tubular, oval head, steel, bright nickel plated, 9/64 x 1/4", 15/64 head diameter. The original rivets these superceded were black enameled painted wrought iron and 3/16" instead of 1/4" long.

Not a pop rivet, these are peened over, they sort of look curled?
