Fording Handle Details

Post by w30bob »

Hi Guys,

Since my M didn't have its original fording control in the dash when I bought it I don't know what the specifics are for the correct cable handle. My Choke and Throttle pulls are metal, not plastic......so was the original fording "T" handle also metal....or plastic ? Did the handle have the F-O-R-D-I-N-G letters in it or was it just a plain "T" handle. I see lots of different NOS and repops out there on Ebay and I'd like to know what the correct one is for my '52 M.

thanks,
bob

I'll check my parts manuals later today and post the result (I'm at work right now).

Hi Gary,

Thanks, much appreciated. All it says in ORD 9 is "7413012 - Control, dual, crankcase ventilation valve, assy" and doesn't give any other details.

regards,
bob

Hi Bob,

I just got a new one last month from John @ MWM and it has a metal "T" handle with no writing on it.

So Bob,
I was able to find my 8030 manual and it indicates a T-handle for the Throttle and Fording cables, and a round knob for the Choke. Those original T handles were metal as I recall because our unit's M201 had them when I was posted at Ft Ord in '77-'78, and I spent a lot of time in that cab. The fording cable "T" had no indicator what it was for since the data plate indicated same.
