Hi Guys,
If you guys remember my Auto Lite post then you know so far all the electrical components on my truck are Auto-Lite. I believe they are the original parts (generator, starter, front marker lights, voltage regulator, etc), but my truck is missing it's tail lights. So I've been looking at the swap meets for Auto Lite branded tail lights, but haven't been having much luck. So a thought popped into my head to check the ORD 9 to see what manufacturer's code and part number was listed for the rear tail lights. This is where things get weird.
The front marker lights are listed as Auto-Lite, as expected. But the rear marker light assemblies are listed as supplied by Chrysler Corp (CC). The part number for the body of the light only is also CC. But if you look up the manufacturer of the doors (the parts with the lenses in them) it lists Guide (GL) for the driver's side and both Guide (GL) and Chrysler (CC) for the passenger side.
So what I'm wondering is why would they use Auto-Lite for everything else electrical.......except the rear tail lights?? Now maybe Auto-Lite just didn't make the rear tail lights....I don't know.....but the driver's side stop light is the same as the front marker light with a red lense in it. So that doesn't make much sense. But what I really want to know is what does the door look like that Chrysler (CC) supplied? Did is have "Chrysler" in raised letters like "Guide" or "Auto-Lite"? I've looked at a ton of used tail lights at the swap meets and I've never seen anything marked "Chrysler".
If anyone knows what a "Chrysler" door or tail light assembly looks like I'd love to see it. Or just tell me what it says on the door.
thanks,
bob
