Post by rickv100 »

Does anyone have a good photo of the windshield wiper hinge elbow for the vaccum wipers?

Thanks,

Rick

Carter,

That is exactly what I am talking about. What is on the inside of the hinge bolt?

The ORD9 manual looks like it has a tube that runs on the inside as well.

Not sure if this could be made up from a weatherhead fittings.

Inside it is just a tube that the vacuum hose slides over, no fitting of any kind.

The tube of this one was rusted off when I got the truck, I soldered in a length of brake line into the elbow after drilling out what was left of the orig.

Easily made from all new Weatherhead components.

Carter,

Many thanks for the updates. Does the inner piece of tubing thread into the windshield hinge bolt?

I use a simple Murray clamp or the Balkamp spring clamp. Used the same clamp at the manifold and each wyper (for MM) unit.

Rick,

The hinge bolt on the driver's side is bored out smooth and the tube just passes through. Mine was snug enough and with the vac hose fitted on the inside & the outside hose feeding up into the windshield frame it stays put.

The tube running thru the bolt on my M was in there so long and crusted I had to drill it out. I gave the new tube a little anti seize, wont stick for me again.

I ran my electrical wiper wires through the bolt and along the original path as well (although I don't have that square fitting), if anyone with electrics might have wondered.

I picked up new windshield bolts from AB Linn off of Ebay. I think they are threaded all the way through

I recieved wiper line parts from XM708( Ed) today. Can I get a photo of the fuel pump to rubber line routing?

Thanks,

I Can't post photos here, so here goes. From the fuel /vacuum pump going towards the fire wall is a 1/4" metal line, it make a 90 deg turn up on the left side of the linkage for the throttle it gets clamped there and goes just a little where it mates up with 1/4 rubber tubing, this tubing goes up and thru the firewall,( the little oval rubber gasket) then under the dash to the pivot bolt( that this whole thing got started with ) there a 1/4" metal tube sticks out that the rubber tube goes over, There the 1/4' metal tube is clamped and runs up the side of the windshield and enters the windshield frame then at the top exit headed for the wipers. This help at all?

Ah, got it. Dug through TM9-8030,it is not really called out but figures 74,79, and 86 show the fuel pump to wiper pipe.

Many thanks,

Rick
