What year is your truck? Let that be the guide. My truck is a 62 and thus I painted it 24087 OD semi-gloss....

My truck is a 52 and I know the truck originally was OD but I like the forest green on Cabell's truck,just wondering how semigloss looks.I know it wouldn't be correct(ssshh,no one has to know it can be our little secret. :twisted: ) as it is from the Army but I'm gonna have to look at it everyday.I think I like a more dark green than brown,not to mention the canvas I purchased from Adirondack is a definite green.

Colour Choice......

Post by Monkey Man »

If the colour looks good to you then don't worry about what others think, besides, 99.9% of folks will think it looks excellent!!

Paint...

Spainex;

Surely, paint your truck the color of your choice. I assumed you were undecided, and was offering suggestions.

Nickathome, no prob thanks for the input. You're right I am kind of undecided, back and forth this one or that one. I guess my wife is right when she says sometimes I'm worse than a woman. :roll: I need to just pick one and go for it :!:

M-37Bruce thanks for the pics, that helps. Your trucks really got some shine to it, is that semigloss or high gloss?

Ain't no "semi" about it. That's about as glossy as you can get without a few coats of clear over it!

Well my tryck is a 52 also, so now I know to use OD. Have plenty of that left from my WC52 anyway.

My truck is a '54. When (if) I get far enough along to paint it, I plan to go with an AF paint job. That means blue. :D

The AF didn't start painting its tactical vehicles OD until after the Viet Nam war had ended, and were just converting to NATO camo in the early '80s. Some M37s stayed in the AF/AFRES/ANG inventory long enough to get painted OD, but I seriously doubt that any lasted long enough to get the camo treatment. The few that we did still have by then would have been very low on the priority list for the camo paint.

I added a hardener to the paint, I like the semi-gloss, I suppose I could've added a matting agent? I still have the formula somewhere?

Cabell, I have been to your site and I do like the looks of the lusterless, I was wondering how the forest green looks with just a slight sheen or satin finsh.
