Ok, I had a lady in VA who contacted me through SS, she is still active military and wanted a M-37 and so I have been helping her. She eventually bought a M-37 from a guy in OHIO who is a MVPA member. He sold the truck so he could finish another M-37 for the ALCAN trip. Anyways, she hired someone to pick it up for her and did but then could not deliver it til a much later date as he had been having some personal issues. So the previous owner, dropped everything and headed after the truck and delivered it to her in VA. He walked her through driving it as the last time she drove anything was her Porche 911 that she had while in Hawaii 6 yrs ago. So TODAY, I get a call that the truck quit on her about 3 mi from the house with a dead battery. (sounds like its not charging) so it got towed back to her place and the previous owner is now headed back to VA from Ohio in the AM to check the truck out!

Anyone near Alexandria VA want to help out??

Yep, guilty as charged on all accounts. Two new batteries and replaced the 25 amp generator with a self regulated 60 amp. Now the truck is up and running. Tough place for a truck that will require some tinkering. Not too many friendlies in that part of town. You'd think someone would be willing to give a gal a hand, she'll be ok with a little more seat time. These old carburetor and choke motors don't make much sense to the computer controlled fuel injected crowd.

Follow the MVPA Alaska Highway convoy on facebook:

The convoy will depart Dawson Creek, BC on August 4th and return August 30th having driven over 4000 miles. We will be north of the arctic circle and spend 2 days at Denali park. 97 MVs registered, the final count is still a moving target. Fueling is our biggest hurdle, traveling with 150 vehicles and some with only 15 gallon tanks.

Oh really-the count still climbing? I was told by the Convoy director Terry Shelswell months ago that the convoy is closed to any more participants....

Gary,
Sorry if you misunderstood my post. I did not say the count is climbing. Yes, the registration is closed and has been since soon after the Dayton convention. We are experiencing some drop-outs for several reasons including medical. The entire convoy will consume at least 5 weeks including travel to and from Dawson Creek. Just the expense alone is causing some registrants to have second thoughts. As a result, our final MV count may be less than the original registered amount. The balance are civilian tow vehicles and campers for those with MVs too small to sleep in. We will be taxing some facilities to their maximum for accommodations and fuel supplies. This was the reason for the final cut-off on registration.
