Consider yourself lucky. During my Army service I only ran into 2 CPLs., many many Spec 4s which were the same pay grade as a Cpl. (E4). As a Cpl. you are an NCO and no KP, also not being a three stripper no Company orderly room duty. So in a lot of ways it was a great rank along with Warrant Officers. Those two CPLs. only made that rank by being busted down from Sgt.

Yeah an actual Cpl. in the Army is a rare sight. The Marines on the other hand, seemed to be chuck full of 'em.
