Basic engine is the same, the IND 30 is a 230 cubic inch engine. Accesories will be different depending upon the application the engine was used for. HP maybe different.

Excellent! Thanks guys
Re: Will This Engine Work in an M37?
Where is the fuel pump location? Is it on the passenger side middle of the engine. If it is keep in mind that vapor lock my be more of an issue
with it located diectly under the exhaust manifold. A heat shield may need to be fabricated similar to the front mounted fuel pump.

Re: Will This Engine Work in an M37?
Guys, thanks for all the help and thoughts!
Dropped the new engine off at the shop today and they are digging into it. Turns out my old one has 3 bad cylinders, bad rings, blown out head gasket, GAS in the oil (:???:), and a cracked exhaust manifold.
This replacement is missing the carb, but they are re-building mine and sticking it on, and it has a good exhaust manifold. I will probably have them rebuild the military fuel pump as well.
Good thought on the fuel pump heat shield, I will have to look into that this summer!

That's a handy site and I've bookmarked it. But somewhere I've seen a site that actually describes some the differences in some of Chrysler's industrial engines. I tried to find it before replying to this message but couldn't. Does anyone have a link to it?Carter wrote:Chrysler industrial engine info:

Thanks once again for all the info guys! After several long months of waiting, the engine was re-built (needed rod bearings and .40 over rings) and is now in the truck and running great...when I pick it up from the shop which I HOPE is this week, I will post a few pictures here to help build the collection of "Chrysler Industrial Engine" in an M37 photos!
Re: Will This Engine Work in an M37?
Nice! We look forward to seeing them!

Frank, do you count the camshaft among the "accessories" that might need changing?
BTW: The "It's a HEMI" Power Wagon has been replaced and is now part of the Museum's collection. It's been six years.

I wish someone had pointed me toward this web sight when my engine went to hell, I couldn't find a thing about it.
One warning about industrial engines - in some applications such as forklifts, the engine turns backwards or CCW, wouldn't that be a bitch to go through all the work of the refit just to find your truck is now Italian, 4 speeds backwards, and 1 forwards, incase the enemy gets behind you.

You are welcome.
I have used it to ID a couple of engines, both turned out to be fron a Plymouth car.

Re: Will This Engine Work in an M37?
Gas in the oil is usually a mechanical fuel pump that has failed internally. For the price, I'd replace the pump as it's not worth diluting your oil and ruining a newly rebuilt engine.

Re: Will This Engine Work in an M37?
Good to know about the gas in the oil thing, thanks!
As it turned out (eventually discovered) the old engine:
-rings gone
-cracked manifold
-cracked BLOCK (somebody replaced the water pump with bolts too long)
-all the pistons/valves were screwed up
If someone were to bore it out and sleeve it it would be usable...does anybody buy cores?
