Uphill Battle

Post by Tim Powell »

Hey Crew. We had the "M" out for a drive Saturday and had a bit of a problem pulling hills. Not big hills, just regular intown grades?? I thought after the new fuel pump and filter I had this problem solved. Any idea where to look next? The tank has been to Gas Tank Renew, the fuel lines flushed and purged. I'm stumped.

Hi Tim,

Have you done a compression check on all 6 cylinders?
Is your timing set correctly?

I'm ashamed to say, NO & NO. I thought it was a fuel problem but will check your suggestions next!

Hi Tim ,timing and the point gap and condition of the points is a big factor.
Don't go with the manual on timing. Should be 4 degrees before top center, not after top center.

You should do a compression check also. Best to know what is going on inside.

I will adjust timing accordingly. By the way, do you suppose my trailer is a M101? Pictures in my gallery.

Tim looks like your trailer is the one that was towed by the M35. It's bigger and has a higher load capacity. I think it is an M105. From your pic it looks like it has overload springs on the axle the M101 doesn't have that.
