No one is arguing the placement of non-high lift pumps. They belong back there within 12" of the tank.
The high lift pumps can be mounted up front on the fender that is away from the exhaust manifold and will perform just fine up there for many years.

I must be looking at a different pump! which pump is the high lift pump your talking about? All of the pumps from Facet are pusher pumps not suck pumps like the original vacuum pumps that were installed on the engine.
I really am interested in a high lift eclectic pump and it's specifications on how much draw they have and how much head pressure they will build after the max draw is attained so I can expect to include or exclude pressure regulators in the end run.

I already posted that on page one of this thread. Just click on the two links for the specs on these suck pumps.
As a general rule the above comments are correct but for those that wish not to locate their pumps under the truck and at the aft end there are electric pumps out there that are specifically designed for high lift from 12 inches to 10 feet.

Hi guys,
I installed the Posi-Flow fuel pump this past weekend and a short test run afterward revealed no difficulties: carb getting plenty of fuel but not too much. I had some concerns about the pump defeating the carb float needle valve but that hasn't been an issue.
