circuit breaker location?
Hi Guys,
I'm away from my truck at the moment and was wondering if anyone knew off the top of their head where the circuit breakers would likely be located on my '53 M43? Are they behind the instrument panel? I am working with Vintage Wiring to get a new harness and they need that info.
Thanks again for your help.
Justin

Re: circuit breaker location?
They are located on the brace behind the instrument panel that the handle for the cowel vent is attached to. There is a picture in the tm 9-8030
page 271.
I belive correct number is 3 breakers one behind the other on the brace.
hope this helps.

Re: circuit breaker location?
The number of breakers would depend on the age (year) of the truck and the accessories installed. My old '54 model was just your basic version with no added goodies. In stock mode, it had only 2 breakers installed, although there were provisions for a 3rd one if needed.

Re: circuit breaker location?
good point Lifer. I wonder if the ambulance had 3 (or more?) due to all the additional electricals in the back? I'm not sure if the quantity is critical to building a new harness.Lifer wrote:The number of breakers would depend on the age (year) of the truck and the accessories installed. Re: circuit breaker location?
My truck came with three, the unused auxiliary power one I hooked up to the convoy light I installed.

The Ord 9 lists 4 pn 7760416 waterproof, auto reset, 15 amp. And describes 5:
1 - Horn
2 - Light switch feed
3 - Spot light
4 - Map Lite (M42)
5 - Auxiliary Power Plug
The ORD 9 also lists 1 PN 7762620 15 amp for the early instrument cluster.

Re: circuit breaker location?
All that came on my truck are 15A . 30 Amps is a lot of power and can't think of anything on our series trucks that needs that much.Sal wrote:Carter, What are your others rated at ? Re: circuit breaker location?
Thanks Carter . Wes you listed two part numbers. I was using Saturn Surpluses web site as a reference. They show a listing for two types of 15 amp Breakers, # 776046 and # 7762620 . Physically they look the same. Can anyone tell me what the difference is ?

Hello Sal,
Saturn is short a digit in their Ord part number 776046 which should be 7760416.
