Looking for a tailgate and / or a center hinge

Post by powerwagontim »

Hi Guys,
I am looking for a tailgate for my M37. I thought I had one found about 6 miles from my home. Perfectly straight, but the usual rust at the bottom. Then today, he decides he does not want to sell it.
I have 2 tailgates, but both would need a ton of work, and I am not sure that either one would ever look good. I dont mind doing rust repair, but removing dents on a panel that is visible from both sides is a challenge!
I imagine shipping is going to be pretty spendy, and may end up being a deal breaker. The closer to the Northeast the better.
I may just beat one of mine into submission and stic it on just to get by until a good one comes along.
I also need a center hinge if anyone has one kicking around.
Thanks,
Tim

Hi Bruce,
That would be great. Let me know when you find it, I am sure we can come to an equitable amount!
Thanks,
Tim

Hey Tim
I tore through my spares earlier today, I only have one of the center hinges, what I thought was one thing was another. Have you checked with AB Linn in Salisbury, NC? If you need his contact info, please ask.

I guess you are aware, if not there are some really nice reproduction tailgates available these days. We bought 1 for a project last fall; around $600 with freight, but a heck of a deal as it would have cost far past that in labor to rebuild the one it replaced.
