Auxiliary power receptacle

Post by Sal »

Does anyone know if the Auxiliary power receptacle on the right hand side of the dash have a cover ? It seems to me it should, being an electrical outlet much like the slave receptacle on the drivers side. I can't find any info on it in any of the books I have. Thanks

Hi Sal
I have the same one and all that's left of the cap is a little piece of chain under one of the mounting screws. I have not been able to find a cap. Maybe a radio supply place would have one. I haven't looked real hard yet but c cover would be a nice touch. Thanks for the numbers Wes. Maybe able to find one using that.

Fair Radio https://www.fairradio.com/catalog.php?m ... &item=6529 should have one as will Kevin Emdee at Starr Electric kevin.emdee@comcast.net or 1-270-877-0813 . It's the same receptacle and cover used on the early M38. The Bendix-Scintilla # for the receptacle assy with the cover is 60-42013-5S.

I believe there is a third, unused circut breaker under the dash. The receptacle is wired into that. My M42 has a harness for the maplight and the harness runs through the cab and is connected to the receptacle. My relative`s M42 has the map light wired directly to the breaker, bypassing the receptacle.

You can use a rubber "foot" for a chairleg for example, as a cover/cap. I picked one up from the hardware store, matching the receptacle diameter and fixed a ball chain with a washer and small screw and nut. Just insulate the inside so the screw base or nut does not short out the receptacle

The receptacle could have been for trouble lights. No real explaination what it was for...
