Squeaky cab
This may sound unusual, but how can I stop my cab from squeaking while driving?
Is the cab mounted on springs to the chassis and if so should I just give them an oil or grease or something?
Thanks

Re: Squeaky cab
WD 40 works well for squeaks. I just killed a few squeaks on my truck with it. It penetrates and you can wipe off the over spray easy.

Re: Squeaky cab
AHHHH... WD40 AND DUCT TAPE!!! ALWAYS IN THE TOOL BOX. IF IT MOVES AND IT SHOULD NOT. USE DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOES NOT MOVE WHILE IT SHOULD BE, USE WD 40!!! LOL. DID YOU GUYS KNOW THAT WD 40 IS LIKE 70% FISH OIL???
AND YES, THE CAB SITS ON SPRINGS, BUT THE SQEAKS COULD ORIGINATE ANYWHERE ON THE VEHICLE. I FOUND THAT MY MAJOR AND MOST HORIFIC SQUEAKS WOULD COME FROM MY SUSPENSION LEAF SPRINGS. AND AGAIN, WD 40 SRAYED ON ALL THEM 4 CORNERS, AND THEN QUIET.

Re: Squeaky cab
If you don't want to mess with overspray from the WD40, it's rumored that K-Y Jelly also reduces friction.

Here say has it the need for reapplication of K-Y Jelly sometimes out weighs it's useful need to over come the friction that it is employed to reduce and becoming simply an annoyance to the job at hand.Lifer wrote:If you don't want to mess with overspray from the WD40, it's rumored that K-Y Jelly also reduces friction.

Re: Squeaky cab
I've had plenty of people say that Kroil is the best. I've had pretty darn good luck with WD40 personally. I've also found that it works excellent for removing residue from masking tape off of paint. Didn't hurt the paint at all. As far as for the job at hand, well I've never tried any of the aforementioned products.m-37Bruce wrote:I'm guessing Lifer found the Spray-K-Y?Lifer wrote:If you don't want to mess with overspray from the WD40, it's rumored that K-Y Jelly also reduces friction.

Then, there was the hillbilly couple who ran out of Vaseline and used 3-in-1 oil for lube. She had triplets, and her ol' man thanked his lucky stars he hadn't used the WD-40. I don't know what woulda happened with Kroil or PBlaster~

The cab doesn't sit on springs, more like the springs sit under the cab.
only there for flex,,, still could be your issue

Re: Squeaky cab
Getting serious, here, Sydney has hit the nail directly on the head. The springs provide tension on the nuts/bolts which attach the body to the frame. As the frame flexes, they "give" a little bit which prevents body distortion (bending) by allowing the body and frame to move in different directions. This "sliding" is minimal, but it is most likely where your squeak is coming from. I'm guessing your mounting pads are either shot or missing.
