R2 Crash truck in NC

Not sure if this was brought up here or not. Kinda bored and surfing craiglook and spotted this under military surplus. kinda expensive I think but who knows ?

Errata:

There were 305 built, not 308 (per Oneida's records).

Most were still chasing planes down the runway as late as 1989, not cut up for scrap.

They did not have "full-time 4-wheel drive," as claimed.

They did not have "sealed 6-cylinder engines." They were for flightline use only, so fording capability was non-existent and the engine could not be "sealed." (Maybe he was referring to the waterproof ignition system?)

Still, if the truck is complete (and all equipment is included) the price seems very good. I'd hesitate to pay that much, though, if it doesn't run and major equipment items are missing.

That is certainly a poor photo with selling the truck in mind, it shows nothing but a truck in the distance. The description tells little detail also like lifer mentioned, most of that isn't correct. I could be wrong, but this has scam written all over it. A picture with no detail most likely on purpose to hide stuff he didn't wish a buyer to be aware of, and an obviously vague discription more than likely because he doesn't have a clue. I'm speaking in typical terms here, but if anyone is interested, I'd surely proceed with caution and no way would I write a check without an in person inspection first.

I agree, one should be sure to look close. If you are too far away take advantage of this list and ask a NC member to look at it for you. Or hire a professional locally to inspect the truck for you. Someone like Charles would be perfect for the task. 4 hours shop labor is a wise investment when considering this type of purchase.
