Wheel nuts

Post by M37UK »

Can someone tell me the correct size of socket required to remove the wheel nuts and is the right side different from the left side as far as threads go?, i.e. left-handed or right-handed.

Cheers

Can't help you with the size at the moment, but the lug nuts are BIG.

On the pitch question, left-side nuts are left-hand threaded, right-side nuts are "normal" right-hand thread.

Stu,
The lug nuts are 1 1/2" U. S. inch size. I use a 3/4 inch ratchet and socket for my lug wrench.
The threads are driver side left hand thread.
Pass side Right hand thread.
There should be a little R stamped on the end of the lug bolt on one side and a L stamped on the other side.

RIX is correct; FYI-I use the 3/4 T-handle so I can use a cheater pipe if needed.

Thanks for the help folks.

The original wrench that came with my truck is starting to wear out so
I plan on buying a new socket.

Cheers

Lug wrench

You might try flea markets and such. I was able to locate 2 for $4.95 each at a Flea Market 45 minutes from my home about a month ago as well as 2 period grease guns for $5.00 each!

UK, can you post a picture of the original wrench? I've been wondering what they looked like and haven't been able to find a picture, even in the manuals.

The square end is for the inner nuts for dual wheel setup
