For the first time since September I worked on the Dodge. Boy did it feel good. I investigated my rear pinion seal leak. I discovered the lip on my CR buna-lip seal I had installed got tore up and the garter spring was off. The case had a little fubar near the bottom. I may have done this while not being careful installing the flange the first time. I installed a new 18555 CR and GENTLY slid the flange back in while making sure the pinion shaft was centered. First nice day I'll top the gear lube off and take a test drive. What a mess underneath I need to clean up. My nicely painted bed floor, springs, and axle housing are covered with gearlube from the failed seal.
PS: I never did complete all the honey-do projects this winter while not working on the truck

Feels good to do something after the hibernation of winter, doesn't it?
I have also found that "honey-doos" never seem to be cleared up no matter the time I spend doing them.

Glad to hear you got to work on your truck. My truck hasn't moved since January, when I got it stuck in a snow drift during that big storm. I've been meaning to take the truck out for a little drive, but with all the snow we had and the recent rain, its just been a better plan to leave it in the garage. Now that the time has changed, I may take it out for a short drive soon. Been about a month since I've even had it running but I know it'll fire right up. Always does.
Congrats David on getting some M time! I also have to do that pinion seal this spring.
Funny, in CA we only have down-time if it rains, so sometimes I have to tell myself to take some time away from wrenching in order to rest up for the rest of the things going on in my life.

Yeah isn't it nice... Only gripe I have is the heat when summertime comes...
Took the M to the local Friday Fish Fry last night. Felt good to be back on the road. She got lots of attention at the resturant . Put about 20 miles on her and the rear pinion seal repair appears to be dry. I really need to get working on my body finish work if I want her painted by Memorial Day. I had planned to work on the truck this weekend but that won't happen as stuff came up . We'll shoot for next weekend...
