Purchase advise needed!!!

Hey Guys,

I found an M37 today at an undisclosed location in Alabama.

It's a USMC truck, nearly 100% complete, with winch, perfect tailgate and it has a fabbed up hard top which has kept the interior in great shape (all data plates still there and not faded).

He wants $2200 for it.

We couldn't find anything missing except the gas can and the strap. Someone cut the loops off the front bumperetts though.

The drivetrain is all there.

Get it or not?? I'm going to have to ask my wife's indulgence on this one so I need moral support!!

I'm leaving now to take her out to dinner......

Does the engine turn? If so, does it run?

It doesn't run as far as I know. I did miss-state....the radiator is missing. But I have a spare engine in storage so it's not a big deal.

She has approved the purchase, now I just have to get it home.

Probably be a week on pics since it's a ways north of where I live.

Before your wife has buyers remorse! That's a fairly decent price if as described.

As long as the purchase money isn't being taken away from something important, like bills, or a vacation, etc, I say buy it and let the wife get over it. I see so many posts like this where the wife MUST give her OK first. I can't live my life that way, and I don't expect my wife to either. We're all adults here guys, no permission needed just do it....

Actually, my wife wouldn't say no unless we actually didn't have the cash and then she'd be thinking of a way to get it. I was just being funny about her approval. She likes my MV hobby since it keeps me home working on stuff instead of roaming the streets!!

Basically, as long as I am happy with something, she is too.

The wheels had clips around the periphery, inbetween the tires and the steel rims. Aren't these original hardware? I know we don't use them now (cause they are missing) but I think I read somewhere that these clips were original.

Hopefully I can get this truck next weekend.

AT $2200 hell I'd sell all my bubble gum wrappers & buy it and stach it out back of the garage till the old broad would fine it then its a done deal, except for the shoutting and she thinks I'm deef anyway and screams louder then il go in the garage turn the stereo on to good ol rock n roll have a few long necks and laugh my azz off.

I think the tire clips are a type of run flat, to hold the bead in place if uninflated. They are usually long gone though!

They're in the parts manual. Bead, clip, tire 1273643, FSN 2530-693-1022 60 ea. (12 per wheel). One of my friends up here just bought a 37 with a full set of them still installed.

Not to sure on exactly how smart this approach would be. It brings to mind a line I've heard for years, there are 2 kinds of married men, hen pecked and separated. Just kidding, it would certainly be a different issue for every couple. Personally, I like for the wife and I to be aggreeable up front on such issues, works much better in our case.

We have a pretty good arrangement. I don't spend money for stupid things or waste it unnecessarily and she is usually good with what I find.

Her father (who passed when she was 12 yrs old) was a motorpool mechanic in the Army. He served in Vietnam and her memories of him are of oil, gas fumes and the clink of tools being used on cars and trucks. So when I am turning wrenches or smell like gas, it's good memories for her.

When I work on military vehicles, I am honoring his memory.
