Denman v. STA's
Not to start another tire discussion, I'm sticking with 9.00x16 NDTs, but have been able to locate 2 brands. Any experience with either mfr? or are they equivalent? I'm looking to keep original.
There Are Several
Wallace Wade, they are in Dallas, comes to mind first, his web page is; www.wallacewade.com
another one, Coker Tire; www.coker.com Another avenue would be to go to your everyday guy, the one that takes care of all of your "rubber meeting the road needs"!
They can almost always special order NTD's!
My tires came from DRMO, here in Central VA.
Good Luck, Let Us Know What Way U Go,

There are several makers of NDT tires. My M37 was released by the government with 3 different brands on it. All of them have to meet certain military standards, so there shouldn't be a lot of variation in quality between brands. I'd suggest going with whatever brand you can get the best deal on, pricewise.
"PER ARDUA AD ITER"
Denman are prob the most common now they are fine . No vehicles in the mil fleet use that size anymore so ones you find today are not likely built to mil spec. An you can still find some at drmo here an there but they wont be new, I got mine that way some yrs ago but they are all date stamped 1968!

Tire Summary
Thanks much - did some digging....9.00x16NDT, 8Ply, includes 7x16 flap, tubes extra.
1. Coker - had an off brand labeled Firestone that was $214 per tire plus shipping from GA to MI (somewhere around $100). Issues on ground freight delivering to a residential area, so Fed Ex Ground would be around $120.
2. STAs - spoke to them in Indiana PA, they distribute (old McCreary brand) under their Specialty Tire name. Taking up Charles suggestion to order in from the local guy to save shipping did not work because they do not order regularly nor do they want to deal with this. So, they would order from STA, drop ship to my house, then I pay them the mark-up for doing nothing. Prices varied from $167-189 per depending on who was holding the gun.
3. Wade Wallace - they had some "old" tires prior to the "new" price jump, but I had to act "fast". Today only, better hurry,... started feeling like I was at a used car lot.... They had Denmans for $150 per, but going fast. Having sold cars in NY, "today only" is a real caution flag for me.
4. Midwest - deals in STAs, and who can you trust more?
My conclusion:
If you can't find a local distributor to order them in and pick them up yourself(your time and hassle) to save the freight, call JB.

Denman....
Denman's are a modern tire that just happens to have the NDT pattern. They're not really a milspec tire, but usually are cheaper than the other brands, and they do look just like Mil tires. Only exception is the giant "DENMAN" logo on them. I have Denman's on my truck. They are made in Mexico, so if you want American made you may want to look elsewhere.
Definitely go through your local tire guy. The big names from MVM magazine etc will rape you on the shipping charges if you're any distance away from their facility. Fortunately for me Carter Davidson hooked me up with a guy in Md that he deals with. Lucky for me this same tire guy delivered up in my area and I got mine delivered to my doorstep (literally) for free. Tell them you will pick up the tires yourself if say you get a guy who might be reluctant to order them for you to give him an incentive. You should however be able to find someone easily who can order them for you.
