Missing
Front Bumper Tie Down Rings
Passenger seat bottom springs and seat lid
Jump seat although it doesn't look like it had one originally... no bolt holes for it...
Door Check Straps... Missing on both doors... Were these canvas strap originally...? One of the doors put a nice dent in the fenders from the previous owner...
Would like to get all the parts to put the soft top on as well...
Things on the list for replacement...
Rear window hard top glass... Has nice crack in it...
Side mirror glass found two arms and mirrors one was cracked don't know about the other to excited to pay attention ...
Front window Glass... Not usable at all de-laminating and cracked...
One hood hinge is missing the pin through it don't know if the pin is available or not I could probably make one...
Found some rot at both ends of the treasure box... and rot up at the two forward corners of the bed easy stuff to fix nice flat metal... Looks like someone had a load shift and it punched the forward section of the bed... The body seems fairly straight as compared to others I've seen and frankly I'd rather replace those rotted sections than have to fix some of the straight panels on these older vehicles...
The plan for now is to restore the parts as they come off the vehicle... It doesn't look like a whole lot comes off... I do have a few holes in the bed that look like they were for radio mounts at one time I'll have to shoot some pictures of that and see what you guys can tell me...

Missing....
As was said of the door check arms, they are metal, not canvas. Check inside the doors. The arm on the passenger door of my truck was missing, and believe it or not, it was lying in the bottom of the door. The clip was gone and the arm was inside. I didn't have the clip so just cut a piece of 1/8 steel and slotted it then welded it into place. Door will swing shut, but it won't fly open and hit the fender anymore......
You can get replacement windshield panels fairly easily. John Bizal should have them. There used to be a guy in California who sold them the cheapest. He went by Trident something something. However I think his business may have gone under. I know windshield panels are around, because each year I see somebody selling them at Aberdeen. Be prepared to drop about a buck fifty on each one though. BTw - The panels interchange with the M35 so if you find somebody selling M35 panels, buy them.
Soft top parts aren't that hard to come by, altough the door frames are going to be harder to locate than the top bow.

Okay...
Okay... So didn't the B1 models have the spare on the drivers side door...? or I am I getting something mixed up...
If that rear glass isn't available I can cut that... I'll have to look out for some front window glass... There's a lot of Deuces out here... I'd do the whole windshield assembly but I want to try to R&R everything without using a lot of spares from whats left available out there...
I have the battery lid it looks like the catch that snaps over the hook on the box part of that broke off... but as I understand the seat springs attach to a piece of wood that rests on top of all of that...

No mix-up, B1s had a mount at the door that swung away before the door could be opened.

No passenger seat springs, just a 4" piece of foam padding covered with a canvas seat cover tied or stapled to the plywood base.

I have drawings & pictures of the passenger side seat bottom if you are interested. I made my own from plywood. PM me & I'll email you what I can find.Oddjob wrote:... but as I understand the seat springs attach to a piece of wood that rests on top of all of that...

Re: Okay...
I still have my original seat bottom. It was too far gone to reuse, but I kept it so I could use it to make the replacement. I traced a few templates for people from it also.N1VSM wrote:I have drawings & pictures of the passenger side seat bottom if you are interested. I made my own from plywood. Over the years I have found that the check arm spring/latch assembly in the door are either missing or broken. To work right it needs to be there. The latch assembly,if good, can be removed from an old door and installed in the door on your truck. Easy to do but takes a bit of time. My '54 (soon to be someone else's '54) appears to be something of an oddity as far as the door checks are concerned. The drive's side has one of the metal ones illustrated above. The passenger side, however, has canvas webbing secured at the ends with footman loops. There is no sign, either on the door or the tub, that it ever had the metal check. Has anyone else come across one like that?

Yes, mine, however it was a homemade canvas check arm that someone made and riveted onto the door frame. It had pulled free from the door and was hanging. Whomever had the truck before I got it must have figured the part was missing so just jerry rigged the canvas. I only found the arm by accident when I took off the door panel to check the assembly and to grease the works.Lifer wrote:My '54 (soon to be someone else's '54) appears to be something of an oddity as far as the door checks are concerned. Yeah...
Yeah... I'll be cracking the doors open if the rain holds off this weekend I'm still weeding out all the projects the former owner started on and then didn't complete and moved on to other stuff...
Ah template for the seat bottom yes I will PM you for that info....
I appreciate that... I do a bit of wood work so that kinda stuff is old hat to me...
Since that wood is gone I suppose there was hardware at one time to attach to it... to help lock it down or hinge it where would I look for something like that...
Right now we are preparing for Rainstorm 2010 here in California... So I was out there putting some vinyl sticker patches over where I don't water collecting until I can get it in my garage...
I try to do a little work on it every day... So far I got my brake pedal, clutch pedal and accelerator pedal free... Noticed I my brake pedal is a little wobbly and when pushed tends to rub against the floor board...
BILL L I haven't notice those pieces you have there yet but when I get the door cracked open at least I'll know what I'm looking for... I'm still discovering little things here and there...
I really do appreciate all the help guys... and if I don't respond right away its because I'm out there working on the beast...

Seat bottom.
The seat bottom has a latch that attaches to the front of the seat frame that holds the seat down. It also has two metal pieces with holes in them that go over the two pins that protrude from the seat frame to keep it from moving. When I replaced my seat bottom I used a couple fender washers and drilled the wood out so the seat would fit over the pins. I bought a hold down latch assembly from Sid Beck.
Yep...
Yep looks like I'm missing one completely on my drivers side I see the one on the passengers side but can't see the springs... Haven't even gotten into the doors yet I just cleaned out the interior today...BILL L wrote:Over the years I have found that the check arm spring/latch assembly in the door are either missing or broken.
