Disassembly Questions
Okay the weathers been nice so I started back at it. I gutted the doors and removed all the weather stripping. One of my questions is; do the replacement strips for the window channel come with the clips to attach them to the door? Next queston; how do you remove the door glass from it's frame? Also I may as well ask about removing the windshield glass.
Hi M11,
The glass sweeps I got from VPW came with the clips. I have not yet installed them. The glass will slide right out once you remove the internal metal "stop" held in place with two bolts, and also remove the two spring clip retainers from the "scissor" mechanism.

Oh, door glass from the frame? Slather on some PB Blaster on the small screws along the top frame corners, then rap them carefully with a screwdriver and hammer to work them loose, then turn back and forth to free them up. Once the top frame is removed, the pane slides out the top (easier said than done).
I found is is easier to just replace the entire windshield assembly than to try to insert new glass. Be very careful if you have to remove the windshield hinge-those bolts break easily!

Fold Out Frame Hinge

Each corner of the top anchored hinge (the tube) has a collapsible/crusher end tip. If you anchored hinge is in good shape, un-crush the tip, liberally apply pb blaster or kroil and slip the panel out to the side. Don't forget to un-hook the ratcheting sizzor on either side of the panels.
I restored one panel & bought one from trident. (may they rest in peace)
BTW, unless you know a glass shop owner all the replacement glass panels (that is glass only) will run you 40/45$ each. So 1fiddy doesn't sound to bad now?
Hope I Helped Out Some & Good Luck,

Bruce is dead on with his guidance and pix!
I recall one spring swap meet where I needed one windshield and a vendor had a new pair and insisted on selling them as a set-wouldn't budge and split the pair and wanted $300 for the pair. I finally gave up and laughed later when I saw the same vendor with the same pair of 'shields at the winter meet and again at the following spring meet. Not only did he lose $150, I noted his lack of negotiating skills and have walked on by at every meet since, costing him more business.
Vengeful? No, just another of Life's choices. Oh, and I ended up with a 'shield from AB Linn for $135.

AB Linn
Thanks Gary, I forgot about AB, 135$ is a bit better! Shipping to the west coast might X that out though. Sid used to be the (sort of) west coast go-to person, still is for a while, I guess?
BTW, I think 1fiddy is an ebay price?
