YOUR THOUGHTS NOT M37

Post by 8543bob »

GOOD EVENING, MAYBE I SHOULD TRY ELSEWHERE BUT I THOUGHT SOMEBODBY MIGHT HAVE A FIX FOR MY 99 TAURUS S/W; ITS NOT BUILDING ENGINE HEAT, CHECKED IT WITH A HEAT GUN 159-163, CHANGED THE THERMOSTAT SAME, CK THE OLD THERM, WORKS GOOD IN A PAN OF WATHER HEATED GRADUALLY. I GOT ENOUGH HEAT OUT OF THE HEATER BUT THE ENGINE HEAT IS WELL BELOW THE 190 DEG THERMOSTAT I INSTALLED. ANY THOUGHTS???
THANKS
BOB

Hello Bob,
What's your outside air temp?

Where are you shooting the heat gun measurement? Should shoot the same location as the temp sender.

What made you suspicious? Was the temp gauge reading in the dash low?

Is the cooling fan running constantly - ie. faulty relay or solenoid?

The Taurus fans are highly sought after as they move ALOT of air. If they are running constantly then they might not allow the engine to come up to temp. Although that being said, that would also indicate a thermostat being stuck open; which you've already replaced...

The only thing left is the level of coolant in the system, as that is what transfers internal engine heat to the outer surface of the engine block (and associated parts). If the coolant level is very low, your dash guage and temp. gun may not be reading an accurate temp. of the engine due to coolant not circulating and heating up the outer surface.

NOT M 37

THE DASH TEMPGAUAGE HAS BEEN READING LOW, YESTERDAY I TOOK A RIDE DOWN TO CAPE MAY NJ, ABOUT 130M, TEMP WAS ABOUT 29F WHEN WE LEFT AT 0600. THE TEMP GUAGE WENT EVEN LOWER ON THE GARDEN STATE PKWY, THAN IT HAS BEEN READING, NEVER MADE IT UP TO THE MARK THAT INDICATES COLD. AFTER SURVEYING A BOAT, AND THE OUTSIDE AIR TEMP HIGHER AND THE SUN UP THE NEEDLE ON THE RIDE HOME WAS A BIT HIGHER. I SHOT THE TEMP GUN AT THE THERMO HOUSING. I WILL CK THE FAN FOR CONSTANT OPERATION, THANKS
BOB
