An old man was splitting firewood one day as a fascinated 6-year-old boy watched.

"Yup!" the old man exclaimed. "This here's the very axe that George Washington used to chop down his daddy's cherry tree!"

"Nuh-uh!" the boy replied. "It's a new axe! It stilll has the sticker on the handle!"

"Well," responded the old man,"a feller has to fix things once in a while, you know. I've had to replace the handle three times, myself. I just bought this handle last week."

"Yeah, right!" said the boy, a dubious look on his face. "How come the blade is so nice and sharp and shiny?"

"Well, ya see," said the man, "last year when I went to sharpen it up a bit, I had to buy a new head for it. It's been fixed up a few times, but this is George Washington's axe for sure!"
